Interested in Miyako Odori Goods?
31 March 2014 - Tradition/Culture"Gion Kobu Kabukai," or the preservation society for Gion Kobu Dance, is selling commemorative goods exclusively at Gion Kobu Kaburenjo Theater in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, from April 1st to 30, when the dance performance "Miyako Odori," takes place.
This year marks the 142nd anniversary of Miyako Odori. Although commemorative goods are sold every year, their variety has increased recently. Wrapping cloths sold for 3,780 yen, which became popular after their first appearance last year, continue to be sold. Additionally, in collaboration of Rokubeygama kiln in Higashiyama Ward, a limited number of mugs are sold for 3,780 yen.
Drawstring pouches (medium size 1,500 yen, small size 1,200 yen), change purses (large size 1,500 yen, small size 1,200 yen) and other items, which were made out of costumes used in past performances, are also being sold.
