New Section to Showcase Duplicated Folding Screens
Created At Kyoto Benrido16 April 2014 - Tradition/Culture"Bijutsu-hagaki Gallery Kyoto Benrido" in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, has created a new section in its gallery to show and sell replicas of artistic folding screens and fans, etc.
The renovation is part of the project to commemorate the 10th anniversary of "Benrido," the printing company, also in Nakagyo Ward, that manages the gallery. Artistic duplicates printed by the company are showcased for sale as souvenirs.
Items include scaled-down versions of folding screens for "Oku-no-hosomichi" illustrated by Buson Yosa and "Fujin-Raijin-zu," or Wind God and Thunder God, which has been designated as a Japanese National Treasure, a fan with a print of "Choju-jinbutsu-giga," or Animal-person Caricatures, picture scrolls and so on. The company has also expanded the section for postcards, their leading product.
