Twelve hundred roses of approximately 200 varieties are in full bloom at "Blumen Hugel Farm," an agricultural park in Nishioji, Hino Town, Shiga Prefecture, which is marking its 20th anniversary this year. The rose garden entertains visitors by featuring the German flag using red and yellow roses.

The rose garden was renewed last year under the supervision of Yoko Abe, a garden designer, to commemorate the park's 20th anniversary. As the park is designed with the motif of a medieval German town, the garden uses "Black Baccara," or a blackish rose, "Kanpai," or a bright red rose, "Vendée Globe," or a yellow rose, and others varieties arranged to represent the German flag.
