Kyoto City Government has launched an Internet system for foreign tourists visiting Japan so they can easily get fee-based tickets for experiential facilities and shows in Kyoto City. The system is intended to improve ticket-purchasing convenience and attract more visitors to cultural institutions and events.

The city government has put up a special English page on the city's official multi-lingual tourist website. When tourists pay by credit card for tea ceremony experiences, music concerts, theatrical plays and other activities, e-tickets with two-dimensional barcodes as substitutes for paper entrance tickets are sent to their smartphones or other devices.

Utilizing the Japan Tourism Agency's business, the system will run as a demonstration experiment until December 15. If it is widely used, the service will continue.
