A dance and music event named "Tower Disco" is scheduled to be held once a month from this June at Kyoto Tower in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto. With a DJ booth set up, the event provides visitors a unique, different atmosphere from that of the day time. The site will surely become a popular nightlife spot for local young people and foreign tourists.

The event program is organized by RANGE CO., LTD, which is headquartered in Osaka City and manages WORLD KYOTO, a music nightclub designed for young people. The tower is used for the events on the first basement floor, which is the KYOTO TOWER SANDO dining area, and the third, fourth and fifth floors, and DJs, including ones from Kyoto, select and play music. Each floor is decorated and lit up to create a club-like atmosphere while the whole tower area of the building is illuminated in pink on the night of the events.

The event hours are from 20:00 to 24:00, extending the tower's operating time three hours longer than usual. This is expected to expand the tower's appeal as a great nighttime sightseeing spot. Guests can take alcoholic drinks purchased at the sky lounge on the third floor to the event floors.

A staff in the planning division of Keihan Hotels & Resorts, which runs Kyoto Tower, said, "We would like to capture a new customer segment, mainly in their 20s to 40s." Event guests must be 20 years old or older. The entrance charge is 5,000 yen. The date for the June event is June 30.
