Shiga Prefecture's annual summer event, "Lake Biwa Great Fireworks Festival 2018" took place on August 7, off Otsu Port, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Approximately 10,000 fireworks colorfully illuminated the night sky and the lake surface, mesmerizing 350,000 spectators, according to the organizer.

The event was organized by the festival's executive committee. This year's theme was "Rainbow Trip around Shiga Biwako." The fireworks began at 7:30 p.m. and were launched for about an hour.

Spectators' applause resounded when they saw effects such as the sparks from fireworks sent high in the sky seeming to shower over them, fireworks with deep earth-resounding bass explosion, and enormous, about two-kilometer-wide display fireworks. Illuminated by the colorful lights, some spectators were gazing into the night sky, while others had smiles or various other facial expressions.

For the finale, "Water Starmine" fireworks were set off one after the other, filling the night sky and drawing loud cheers from the crowds.

Next year, the festival will be held on August 8. There will be no alternative rain date.
