A cafe opened on April 22 at Makino Pic-land, an agricultural park in Terakubo, Makino-cho, Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture. It commands a good view of the rows of metasequoias, which is a tourist attraction. Customers can taste sweets made with fruit harvested at Pic-land and local farms.

"Namiki Cafe Metasequoia" is a single-story, steel frame building with an area of 324 square meters. Large windows are installed along the walls so that customers can see the straight, tree-lined street from everywhere in the 92-seat cafe. It also has a terrace with 36 seats.

The menu has eight types of sweets, including roll cakes, tarts and shortcake, for 650-800 yen, as well as drinks and others. It also sells jams and baked goods.

The cafe is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (winter closing at 5:00 p.m.) It is usually closed on Wednesdays, but will not close during the consecutive holiday period.
