Ocean of Green Maple Reflected on Sutra Copying Desk
Rurikoin, Kyoto11 July 2019 - Kyoto//Sightseeing/EventsOver the moss carpet rolled out in "Ruri-no-niwa," a Japanese-style garden, more than 100 "Takao Momiji" and other kinds of maple and Japanese Andromeda are stretching out their branches and their leaves are shining under the sun.
On the second floor of the Sukiya-style "Shoin" building, a sutra-copying desk reflects the green maple leaves of the garden on its surface of approximately 3.3 square meters, the size of two tatami mats. It creates a fantastic atmosphere, as if the ocean of maples is spreading.
The temple offered a special admission until June 30. As it had become a hot topic on social networking services (SNS), etc., many tourists from abroad also visited the temple. People were lined up, waiting in front of the temple gate more than 30 minutes before the opening.
