Japan's Kyoto University to host Ukrainian students affected by war
13 April 2022 - Education/University//KyotoAbout 30 students from the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv will be hosted for one year from April, with tuition fees waived, the university in western Japan said.
The students will be able to earn credits and their stays at Kyoto University could be extended if necessary, it said.
The university has also set up a Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund and commenced seeking donations to help provide the students with financial assistance. Support for living in Japan for the students and their families, such as housing, will be provided in cooperation with local governments in Kyoto.
"It is unbearable to see that young students' desire to study and conduct research is being mercilessly crushed," the university said. "We hope to make every effort to host students who wish to come."
