The ice show "BEYOND" directed by Mao Asada, 31-year-old silver medalist in women's figure skating at the Vancouver Olympics, premiered at the Shiga Prefectural Ice Arena in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, on September 10. The ice arena had a nearly full house of 2,100 people and thunderous applause erupted for her spectacular skating.

Asada herself chose the music and devised the composition of the program. The images and light effects projected on the screen above the rink were also ingeniously designed to incorporate innovative expressions. The performance was a story of 10 skaters traveling through various worlds, and lasted for about 1 hour and 40 minutes without a break. Asada charmed the audience by showing new aspects in her performance, including pairing up to perform pieces she has performed previously, such as the symphonic suite "Scheherazade" and "Swan Lake." After the first performance, she expressed her gratitude, saying, "My heart is so full of emotion that I can't even put it into words."

A housewife from Nagahama City said with deep feeling, "I heard her first performance was in Shiga, so I came to see it. It was really a wonderful show, and the costumes were also beautiful."
