The annual winter illumination has started at Biwako Otsukan at Yanagasaki, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. The elegant building, formerly owned by the Biwako Hotel, emerges fantastically amid the red, blue and white sparkling lights, decorating the lakefront.

This is the tenth year the event has been held. Using 100,000 LEDs, 20,000 more than last year, eight Christmas trees, ranging from two to eight meters tall, and a light tunnel have been arranged. With the theme of "CASA & GAZEBO in the Light Garden," an illumination of a small building as the image of a garden resting place has also been set up.

Visiting people and parents with their children cheered at glittering illumination as they enjoyed strolling around and taking pictures. The event will continue until January 12, 2014. It will be lit up from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
