Enjoy walking up and down in the Kyoto Basin
Bumpy Walks Map Published25 August 2014 - Sightseeing/Events"Kyoto Osanpo Deko-boko Chizu" or a map that comprehensibly describes Kyoto Basin with its many ups and downs was published. The map with clear representation of differences in heights helps relive Kyoto's history nurtured by its topography.
By piecing together data based on the numerical maps published by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan, the topography of Kyoto was three-dimensionally depicted with computers.
The book introduces in full color the topographies of walking courses around famous sightseeing areas with near historical spots. It also includes a round-table talk in which Keisuke Imao, a well-known scholar of cartography, and others discuss the topography of Kyoto. It has 88 pages and is published by Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha, Ltd., for 1,404 yen.
