Seven Restaurants in Kyoto with Michelin's Three-star Rating
Kansai 2015 Edition Guidebook20 October 2014 - GourmetPrior to the publication of "2015 Michelin Guide Kansai," a rating guidebook of restaurants and hotels, the publisher, Nihon Michelin Tire Co., Ltd., announced some restaurants and hotels which are listed in the guidebook, on October 20 in Osaka City. A total of 14 restaurants in four prefectures were rated with the highest rating of three stars. Among them, Kyoto has seven restaurants, unchanged from last year's lineup.
The guidebook's Kansai edition marks the sixth publication and introduces 335 restaurants (359 restaurants last year) and 97 hotels (92 hotels last year). The number of restaurants in Kyoto which were awarded stars has decreased by five to a total of 99, including three inns. This was followed by 87 restaurants from Osaka, 52 restaurants from Hyogo and 16 restaurants from Nara.
The number of three-star restaurants excluding those in Kyoto consists of four restaurants in Osaka, two in Hyogo and one in Nara. A total of 84 restaurants have been ranked "Bib Gourmand," where, even though there is no star ranking, people can enjoy high-quality meals at reasonable prices. The guidebook will be published on October 23. It costs 3,240 yen per copy.
Kyoto restaurants with a three-star rating are as follows.
Kikunoi Main Restaurant, Chihana, Mizai (all located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto), Kichisen, Hyotei (both located in Sakyo Ward), Kitcho Arashiyama Main Restaurant (in Ukyo Ward), and Nakamura (in Nakagyo Ward).
