Maple Leaf Illumination from Fantastic Stage
Evening Admission from Nov. 14 at Kiyomizu-dera Temple13 November 2014 - Sightseeing/EventsPrior to the autumn special evening admission, an illumination test was carried out on the evening of November 13 at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto. Maple leaves that have begun to turn emerged in the lights, dramatizing the autumnal night in the old capital.
The autumnal evening admission of Kiyomizu-dera Temple is in its 22nd year this year. Approximately 500 lights will illuminate about 1,000 maple trees in the precincts and its main hall, known for "Kiyomizu no Butai" or the temple stage. According to the temple, since around 40 percent of the maple leaves have turned red, the best time to enjoy the color is expected to be after November 20.
The evening admission continues from November 14 to December 7, between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. There is an admission fee.
