On the morning of December 18, Kyoto City's lowest temperature dropped to minus 1.7 degrees Celsius, which is 4.6 degrees colder than an average year. The city's central area saw two centimeters of snow. At "Kinkaku-ji," or the Golden Pavilion, in Kita Ward, the roof of the pavilion, or the reliquary hall, was covered with snow. Admiring its even more elegant appearance as it was draped in pure white, tourists were excitedly taking photos.
