Brewery and Apparel Firms Collaborate, Release Refined Sake for Young People
Two Kyoto Companies9 March 2015 - GourmetGekkeikan Sake Co., Ltd., a major sake brewer based in Kyoto City's Fushimi Ward, together with Wakabayashi, a clothing company based in Nakagyo Ward responsible for the Sou Sou garment line, released an alcoholic drink aimed at young women particular about eventual fate of the bottle on March 9.
The aim is to broaden the fan base of refined sake, and stimulate the motivation to enjoy it with a sense of fun. Joint development of products began from last year.
The bottled refined sake, "O-choko de Nihonshu," has a plastic cap that can be used as a sake cup. There are three kinds, from a "tanrei" crispy, dry to sweet sake for beginners, to a super-dry for the experienced. A 180 ml bottle costs 281 yen.
"Ringo-aji no Utakata," a liquor consisting of carbonated refined sake with fruit juice, is being released in a bottle decorated with pictures of apple flowers and fruit. The bottle can be used as a vase afterwards. A 305 ml bottle costs 513 yen.
The new products will be available in supermarkets and department stores across the country.
