The campaign was proposed by two players, Shunya Suganuma and Yuki Horigome, who once played for Roasso Kumamoto, a Kumamoto-based football club. When ten players and team coach Kiyotaka Ishimaru asked for support, many passersby and team supporters donated money. Suganuma said, "If we all work together, we can provide major help. We would like to continue assisting in the reconstruction."
Fundraising was also held at Kyoto Tower and other locations. The goodwill donations have reached a total of 971,204 yen. Fundraising will also continue through three home matches, until May 7.(translated by Galileo, Inc.)
