MK Co., Ltd., a major taxi company based in Minami Ward, Kyoto, announced on December 13 that it will launch an attraction game using the latest AR, or Augmented Reality, technology at an amusement facility in Kita Ward, Kyoto from December 23 for a limited time. Players can have a simulated experience of performing special moves and magic that are commonly seen in the world of anime and video games.

"HADO" is an attraction developed by meleap inc., a Tokyo-based AR venture. Players wear goggle-shaped displays to battle against computer-generated monsters that appear on the monitor in front of their eyes, or play against other players. The sensors worn on their wrist detect their body movements so that they can enjoy performing special techniques, like emitting a beam, and dodging opponents' attacks.

HADO has been installed for the first time in the Kansai region. The event will take place in the futsal court in MK Bowl Kamigamo, Kita Ward, managed by MK Co. Ltd. Up to three players can enjoy fighting with monsters at the same time. There is also an interpersonal battle game in which players can face off against each other. Participation is limited to elementary-school students or above. There is a fee for either game. The event will continue until January 9, next year. It will be open every day during that period.
