Lush leaves have popped out from the top of a signpost standing at Ogi 1-chome, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. The sight might surprise drivers traveling along the road who catch a glimpse of it.

The signpost was found on a prefectural road, which is about one kilometer northwest from the Ogi-Ogoto Interchange of the "Kosei Road," or a road running along the western shore of Lake Biwa. Standing at a curve in the road, the silhouette of the tips of the leaves spreading radially from the top of the white post has a conspicuous presence under the rainy season sky.

It seems either bamboo or bamboo grass, whose subterranean roots have expanded through the area, has grown through the post in search of light. According to the Kyoto Botanical Gardens in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto, it is a very rare landscape, created by vitality and fortuity.
