The exhibition "Sorezore no TEIBAN," which introduces craftsmanship with rich individuality from the Lake Biwa area, such as Shigaraki ware accessories and leather bags, started on September 26 at Matsuya Ginza in Ginza, Chuo Ward, Tokyo.
TEIBAN is an ongoing project of entrepreneurs in Shiga, Mie, and Nara Prefectures that attempts to create "Teiban Shohin," or standard goods for which people feel an attachment. Participants in Shiga, who are mainly Shigaraki ware potteries, have held exhibition for 13 times in total in Tokyo and Shiga prefectures since 2010. This time, they are undertaking a new sales challenge by moving the venue to a department store for the first time.
Displayed in the venue are approximately 200 exhibits, including Shigaraki ware pierced earrings and basins, and leather shoulder bags. The entrepreneurs also devised a way of showing goods, for example, appliances for display are coordinated with products from metal processors of Shiga Prefecture. Visitors keenly viewed the items.
The exhibition sale will continue until October 9. There is no admission fee.
